“Godspell” Coming to Clary Gardens July 2022

Rogue Elephant Productions is excited to announce that the 2012 revival version of “Godspell” will be its summer 2022 show at Clary Gardens!

“Godspell” was originally conceived in 1971 by John Michael-Tebelak as his graduate thesis project at Carnegie Mellon University. The show’s music and lyrics were rewritten by Carnegie Mellon alum Stephen Schwartz (Pippin, Wicked) to prepare the show for Broadway, and eventually was made into a film in 1973. “Godspell” sets the gospel story, largely structured around the parables of Matthew, in a modern setting as Jesus gathers followers and teaches them to build a community together.

In 2011, Schwartz returned to the musical and substantially updated the music and rewrote the lyrics for contemporary audiences, and brought the revival to Broadway again in 2012. It is this revival version that Rogue Elephant will present in 2022.

Auditions will be scheduled for late January/early February of 2022. Show dates are set for July 1-3 and 7-9, with an afternoon performance for July 3. Follow Rogue Elephant on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram for updates on auditions and ticket availability! As with our previous productions, Premium Seating will be available for sale, with the bulk of general seats available for free. Additionally, we will have a small number of “VIP” seats for sale - patrons in these seats will be guaranteed to be chosen for the show’s audience participation scenes!
